UEGCL RECIEVES VESTING INSTRUMENTS FOR THE TAKEOVER OF THE 1MW MAZIBA GORGE SMALL HYDRO POWER PLANT

UEGCL received the vesting instruments for the takeover of the Maziba Gorge Small Hydro Power plant from Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL). The 1MW power station, situated on the Kiruruma River that flows from Rwanda, into Uganda and back to Rwanda in Kabale District is one of the oldest small hydropower stations to be developed in Uganda and commissioned in 1963.
UEGCL CEO Dr. Eng. Harrison Mutikanga received the vesting instruments for Mziba HPP that included the land title and other documents of the plant. UEGCL intends to rehabilitate and upgrade this facility as part of the grand strategy to deliver reliable and affordable electricity to the country.
