UEGCL Rennovates the Bugungu Afforestation site office

UEGCL face lifted the Bugungu Afforestation Project Site Office and constructed a water reserve tank to help during the dry seasons. The Environmental Restoration Project that started in 2002 is a community development project located in Kyaggwe, Nyenga Sub County, Buikwe District along the shores of Lake Victoria that arose as compensation for the environmental effects on the canal during the construction of he Owen Falls Extension Project and also as a demonstration tree planting project in the area to encourage the surrounding community to take up tree planning.

UEGCL gives out free seedlings of three species that is Pine, Musizi and Eucalyptus to members of a local association called Environmental Conservation Agriculture and Tree Planting Initiative Association (ECATPIA) formed as a vehicle through which UEGCL could interact with the local community.
This project has boasted the economic status of the surrounding community and has also helped in conserving the environment around the areas of Lake Victoria.
