Today, UEGCL convened a high-level strategic meeting with the contractor for the 183MW Isimba Hydropower Plant (HPP), China International Water & Electric Corporation (CWE), together with the Owner’s Engineer, to deliberate on the rehabilitation of the Isimba HPP spillway system.
The engagement focused on identifying and evaluating a range of intervention measures, spanning immediate emergency repairs to more sustainable, long-term solutions aimed at safeguarding the structural integrity and continued reliability of the facility.
During the meeting, the CEO of UEGCL, Harrison E. Mutikanga, emphasised the urgency of undertaking the required remedial works. He called upon the contractor to expedite mobilisation and ensure the timely commencement of rehabilitation activities, underscoring UEGCL’s commitment to maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable power generation infrastructure.
