Earlier this week, Isimba Hydropower Plant launched its annual Dam Safety and Emergency Preparedness Workshops in Kamuli District. The 3-day sessions convened key community stakeholders from Kamuli District Local Government, as well as Mbulamuti and Kisozi sub counties.
For this year’s sensitisation workshops, UEGCL was joined by representatives from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) under the Disaster Preparedness and Management Unit, who reaffirmed the need for routine community sensitisations on disaster-related occurrences.
These workshops aim to raise awareness about dam safety protocols, enhance community preparedness for potential dam-related emergencies, and reinforce the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders as outlined in the Emergency Preparedness Plan (EPP).
More importantly, such engagements serve as a critical platform for strengthening collaboration between Isimba HPP and the surrounding communities, ensuring that safety remains a shared priority.
