UEGCL Board visits the Tilenga Project ahead of Uganda’s first Oil

May 7, 2026

The Board of Directors undertook a strategic visit to the Tilenga Project in the Albertine  Graben to gain insight into one of Uganda’s most significant oil developments. The delegation toured the Bunya 3 Oil Pad, where officials from the Petroleum Authority of  Uganda (PAU) explained that the innovative multi-well pad design allows for several wells to  operate from a single platform, minimising environmental impact while enhancing operational  efficiency.

The Tilenga Project, which spans multiple production fields and hundreds of wells, is expected  to produce approximately 190,000 barrels of oil per day at peak production, with First Oil  anticipated before the end of 2026.

The highlight of the tour was the visit to the Central Processing Facility (CPF) in Buliisa, a key  component of the Tilenga Project’s oil production infrastructure.
