Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited has reinforced its commitment to community safety and sustainable development through the distribution of life jackets to fishermen associations in Karuma and Oyam districts under its ongoing CSR campaign. The exercise was led by Head of Communications and Corporate Affairs, Enock Kusasira, as part of the company’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) efforts aimed at safeguarding lives and supporting local communities that interact with water bodies around its project areas.
The initiative seeks to reduce water-related risks among fishing communities while strengthening stakeholder engagement and promoting safer and more sustainable livelihoods. Beneficiaries were encouraged to take proper care of the life jackets and consistently use them as a critical safety measure to protect their lives while on the water.
Through this intervention, UEGCL continues to demonstrate its commitment to going beyond power generation by contributing to the wellbeing and resilience of surrounding communities.
