CDAP Phase II Commissioning Press Brief
Overview
Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) has officially commissioned the Grid Extension and Reticulation Project under Phase II of the Isimba Hydropower Project Community Development Action Plan (CDAP), advancing rural electrification in Kayunga District.
The project, executed through an EPC contract with MTSL Energies, delivered 57 km of medium-voltage lines, 81 km of low-voltage lines, 47 transformers, and power connections to 49 villages, benefiting local communities with improved electricity access. The commissioning ceremony was officiated by Hon. Dr. Ruth Nankabirwa, Minister of Energy, alongside Hon. Amos Lugoloobi, MP and Minister of State for Planning.
This milestone reinforces UEGCL’s commitment to rural electrification, economic transformation, and Uganda’s national electricity access goals, in alignment with government initiatives including the Electricity Access Scale-Up Project.
