The Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) has secured UGX 674.7 billion to rehabilitate the Nalubaale and Kiira power plants. This funding, provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the French Development Agency (AFD), aims to meet Uganda’s growing electricity demand and enhance the stability of the national grid. As part of this initiative, the European Union plans a visit to review the country’s energy system, highlighting UEGCL’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Uganda’s energy infrastructure and support sustainable development.
