Kampala, August 24, 2024:- The Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) on Saturday joined thousands of participants at the 12th annual Rotary Cancer Run held at Lugogo Millennium Grounds in Kampala. The event, which kicked off at 6:00 AM, was a resounding success, marked by a vibrant atmosphere as runners gathered to support the fight against cancer.

The day began with an energetic aerobics session that set the tone for the races that followed. Participants had the option to compete in 21km, 10km, and 5km categories, and among the enthusiastic runners were several UEGCL staff members, showcasing the company’s commitment to supporting health initiatives within the community.

As a proud sponsor of the Rotary Cancer Run, UEGCL’s involvement underscores its dedication to raising awareness about cancer and contributing to efforts to improve access to affordable and quality healthcare in Uganda. This year’s run is particularly significant as proceeds will go towards completing the one-stop cancer centre at Nsambya Hospital, a vital facility providing comprehensive care for cancer patients.

“We are honoured to be part of such a meaningful event,” said Dr. Eng. Harrison, the UEGCL CEO. “Participating in the Rotary Cancer Run allows us to not only promote wellness among our staff but also to stand with the broader community in the fight against cancer. Together, we can make a difference.”

The 2024 Rotary Cancer Run attracted thousands of runners from across Uganda, demonstrating widespread support for this critical cause. UEGCL remains committed to its role in fostering community engagement and supporting initiatives that have a positive impact on the health and well-being of Ugandans.
