UEGCL has successfully concluded a four-day Asset Management training workshop held at SKYZ Hotel, Naguru, aimed at enhancing staff capacity to make informed, strategic and value-driven decisions in the management of the Company’s electricity generation assets.
The training equipped participants with knowledge and practical insights into effective asset management, with emphasis on three key areas:
● Holistic Asset Valuation: Understanding asset value beyond financial considerations by integrating cost, risk, performance, safety and sustainability into decision-making.
● Strategic Asset Management: Adopting a proactive and value-driven approach to managing assets to optimise performance, reliability and value throughout their lifecycle.
● Sustainable Value Creation: Ensuring that investments in Uganda’s electricity generation infrastructure deliver long-term economic and social benefits.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, UEGCL’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Isaac Arinaitwe, emphasised the importance of teamwork and cross-functional collaboration in strengthening the Company’s asset management practices. He highlighted the need for staff across different functions to work together in making sound decisions that enhance asset performance and support organisational objectives.
The training forms part of UEGCL’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity, optimise the management of its generation assets and ensure that investments in electricity infrastructure deliver sustainable value.
Through continuous staff development and improved asset management practices, UEGCL remains committed to maintaining reliable generation infrastructure and delivering sustainable electricity solutions for Uganda’s development.
