The Minister of State for Energy, Hon. Sidronius Okaasai Opolot welcomed the new UEGCL Board of Directors (BoD) at Serena Hotel, Kampala.
In her remarks, the outgoing BoD Chairperson, Dr. Eng. Margaret Njuki, appreciated the Minister for the support extended to the outgoing BoD during its tenure, highlighting key milestones including the takeover of Namanve TPP and the commissioning of the 600 MW Karuma HPP.
The incoming BoD Chairperson, Dr. Eng. Florence Lubwama Kiyimba, pledged to build on this strong foundation by maintaining a close working relationship with UEGCL Management, shareholders, and all key stakeholders.
UEGCL appreciates the outgoing BoD for its stewardship and welcomes the incoming BoD as we continue making electricity safely available for supply at all times from all our power plants.
In his concluding remarks, Hon. Okaasai, urged the incoming BoD to align its stewardship with Uganda’s long-term energy ambitions of increasing installed capacity to 52,000 MW by 2040, and to ensure UEGCL continues playing a leading role in powering Uganda’s future.
