WICI Uganda Board Visits UEGCL to Strengthen Collaboration on Women’s  Leadership

September 3, 2026

The Board of Directors of Women in Construction and Infrastructure (WICI) Uganda, led by  Mrs. Kiara Binta Nkuranga, paid a courtesy visit to Uganda Electricity Generation Company  Limited (UEGCL) to appreciate the Company’s sponsorship and support towards the successful  Women in Construction and Infrastructure Symposium (WICIS) 2026, held on 27th March  2026.

The delegation was hosted by UEGCL’s Chief Human Resource Officer, Joyce Nakalema. The  engagement provided an opportunity for both institutions to reflect on the outcomes of the  symposium and explore opportunities for deeper collaboration to advance women’s  participation and leadership across Uganda’s energy, construction, research and infrastructure  sectors.

Discussions focused on strengthening women’s participation in leadership and decision-making,  promoting diversity and inclusion, and addressing barriers that continue to limit women’s  participation in traditionally male-dominated sectors.

The engagement also highlighted the importance of mentorship, professional development and  networking in supporting women to build successful careers and progress into leadership  positions. Both institutions shared experiences and explored best practices for creating more  inclusive workplaces and promoting women’s advancement in the energy and infrastructure  sectors.

The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of UEGCL and WICI Uganda to creating  opportunities for women to develop their careers, take up leadership roles and contribute  meaningfully to Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.

UEGCL remains committed to building strategic partnerships that promote inclusion, empower  talent and support initiatives that drive positive and transformative change across Uganda’s  energy and infrastructure sectors.
