The incoming UEGCL Board of Directors has successfully concluded a week-long orientation programme held at Serena Kigo, aimed at equipping members with a comprehensive understanding of the Company’s mandate, operations, strategic priorities, and governance responsibilities. The induction programme provided the incoming Board with in-depth insights into UEGCL’s role in electricity generation, its operational portfolio, strategic business objectives, and the critical role of the Board in providing effective oversight and guiding the Company’s long-term growth.

Throughout the week, the Board engaged with the UEGCL Management team through a series of presentations and discussions covering the Company’s mandate, business operations, governance framework, and key strategic initiatives. The sessions were designed to strengthen the Board’s understanding of the opportunities and challenges within Uganda’s evolving energy sector, enabling members to effectively execute their governance responsibilities.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, Board Chairperson Eng. Dr. Florence Lubwama Kiyimba commended the UEGCL Management team for organising a comprehensive and insightful induction programme. She reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to providing strategic oversight and support to ensure UEGCL continues to effectively deliver on its mandate, strengthen operational excellence, and drive sustainable growth in Uganda’s electricity generation sector.

The successful completion of the orientation marks the beginning of the Board’s tenure as it works alongside Management to advance UEGCL’s strategic objectives and contribute to the reliable and sustainable supply of electricity for Uganda’s socio-economic development.
