Hon. Dr. Monica Musenero Assures Public on Temporary Power Interruptions

Today, Hon. Dr. Monica Musenero addressed the nation on the current status of electricity supply, assuring the public that the planned power interruptions being experienced in some parts of the country are temporary and necessary to support ongoing improvements to Uganda’s electricity network.

The Minister explained that the scheduled outages are enabling critical upgrades, rehabilitation, and expansion works aimed at strengthening the national power system. The works, which are expected to continue until 8th August 2026, will enhance the reliability, safety, and resilience of electricity supply, ensuring a more stable network to meet the country’s growing energy demands.

Hon. Dr. Musenero also urged the public to play an active role in safeguarding the nation’s electricity infrastructure by remaining vigilant and reporting acts of vandalism. She emphasized that protecting power assets is a shared responsibility that is essential for maintaining reliable electricity service and supporting Uganda’s socio-economic development.

The Government remains committed to delivering a stronger and more resilient electricity network that will support industrial growth, investment, and improved service delivery across the country.
