The UEGCL Board of Directors, led by the Chairperson, Eng. Dr. Florence Lubwama Kiyimba, has concluded its plant familiarisation visits with a visit to Maziba Dam. The visits form a key milestone under the Board’s strategic 100-Day Plan, aimed at strengthening oversight, enhancing understanding of UEGCL’s generation assets, and fostering direct engagement with operational teams.
During the visit, the Projects Team briefed the Board on the planned rehabilitation works at Maziba Dam, scheduled to commence in the current financial year. The Board reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Projects Team throughout the rehabilitation process to ensure the successful restoration and optimal performance of the facility.
As part of the tour, the Board also undertook a benchmarking visit to the 6.5 MW Muvumbe Hydropower Plant, located downstream of Maziba Dam. The visit provided an opportunity for the Board to gain practical operational insights and exchange knowledge on hydropower generation, plant operations and long-term asset management.
The familiarisation visits under the 100-Day Plan demonstrate the Board’s commitment to gaining a deeper understanding of UEGCL’s generation assets, ongoing developments and operational priorities. This proactive engagement strengthens strategic oversight and supports UEGCL’s contribution to Uganda’s energy security and sustainable development.
