Today, we had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from the International Council of Swedish Industry (NIR) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) at the 183MW Isimba Hydropower Plant.
The visit provided a valuable platform to reflect on the impact and progress of the NIR-funded capacity building programme, which has played a significant role in strengthening technical expertise within the energy sector. Particular focus was placed on advancements in solar energy development, including the design and planning of Solar PV projects, as well as the execution of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs). These efforts continue to enhance institutional capacity and support Uganda’s transition towards a more diversified and sustainable energy mix.
Discussions also explored opportunities for continued collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovation in renewable energy development. The delegation gained insights into ongoing initiatives and the broader strategic direction of integrating clean energy solutions within existing infrastructure.
NIR reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the successful implementation of the proposed floating solar project on the Isimba Reservoir, an initiative that represents a forward-looking approach to maximizing renewable energy generation while optimizing available resources.
The visit underscores the importance of strong international partnerships in driving sustainable energy solutions and building resilient systems for future generations.
